UK Pre Wedding Photography London
A Central London Pre Wedding Photography Shoot
Ken and Claudia's London Pre Wedding shoot was an incredibly fun day and was the perfect start to spending a few days with this couple in London and the beautiful Peak District.
The couple had flown in from Hong Kong, especially for their pre-wedding shoot, and we had spent many months planning the perfect itinerary both in London and the UK countryside. The shoot began at one of my favourite London pre-wedding locations in Shad Thames near Tower Bridge, and the historic street and surrounding area with cobbled streets and converted warehouses is a perfect location for engagement photographs.
We then spent the day walking along the Southbank, stopping at lots of great spots, including St Paul Cathedral, before ending up at Westminster to capture some pre-wedding photographs around Big Ben, The London Eye and the River Thames.
Pre wedding shoots in London are always lots of fun and Ken and Claudia's energy and sense of humour made the whole day so enjoyable. Here are a few images from this London pre wedding shoot at Shad Thames, St Pauls and Westminster.

The Best Pre-Wedding Photoshoot Locations in London
London offers an incredible blend of historic charm and modern elegance, making it one of the most picturesque cities for pre-wedding photography. With iconic landmarks, stunning backdrops, and unique vibes, it’s no wonder couples from around the world flock here to capture their love stories. In this guide, we’ll explore some of the top spots for your pre-wedding shoot, including Westminster, St Paul’s Cathedral, Millennium Bridge, Shad Thames, and Tower Bridge.
1. Westminster: Timeless Elegance by the Thames
Westminster is a classic location for pre-wedding photos, offering a mix of regal and romantic settings. Here’s what makes it so special:
Houses of Parliament and Big Ben: These iconic landmarks create a quintessentially British backdrop. Opt for a morning shoot to avoid the crowds and capture the soft, golden light reflecting on the River Thames.
Westminster Abbey: With its intricate Gothic architecture, this historic abbey is perfect for elegant and timeless photos.
Victoria Embankment: For a more relaxed vibe, stroll along the Thames with views of London Eye in the background.
Tip: Early mornings or evenings work best for soft lighting and fewer tourists.
2. St Paul’s Cathedral: A Symbol of Romance
St Paul’s Cathedral is a favourite among couples seeking a mix of grandeur and romance. Its impressive dome and surrounding streets provide endless opportunities for stunning photos:
Steps of St Paul’s: The sweeping staircase with the magnificent dome above is an iconic spot.
One New Change: This modern shopping centre offers a rooftop terrace with breathtaking views of St Paul’s. The glass reflections create a sleek, contemporary feel.
Hidden Alleys: The cobbled streets and hidden corners around St Paul’s add a sense of intimacy and old-world charm to your shots.
3. Millennium Bridge: Urban Meets Artistry
Linking St Paul’s Cathedral to Tate Modern, Millennium Bridge is a striking location for modern and dynamic photos:
Bridge Perspective: Capture the dramatic lines of the bridge with St Paul’s in the background for a powerful composition.
Sunset Magic: Shooting during golden hour can create dreamy lighting, with the city skyline softly glowing in the background.
Southbank Views: Once you’ve crossed the bridge, the vibrant Southbank offers urban textures and cultural energy that contrast beautifully with romantic moments.
4. Shad Thames: Cobblestone Romance by the River
For a more atmospheric setting, Shad Thames is a hidden gem full of character:
Historic Warehouses: The preserved Victorian warehouses and cast-iron walkways add a touch of industrial elegance to your photos.
Riverside Views: The Thames provides a peaceful yet dramatic backdrop, especially during twilight.
Quiet Charm: Unlike some of London’s busier spots, Shad Thames feels intimate and private, allowing you to focus entirely on capturing your special connection.
5. Tower Bridge: Iconic London Glamour
No pre-wedding shoot in London would be complete without photos at Tower Bridge. It’s one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks and offers:
Bridge Details: The ornate architecture and sky-blue accents make for stunning close-ups and wide shots.
Riverwalk Scenes: Combine the beauty of the bridge with views of the Thames and the modern skyline.
Night Shots: Tower Bridge lights up beautifully after dark, making it a magical location for evening photos.
Tips for a Successful Pre-Wedding Shoot in London
Plan Around Lighting: Early mornings and late afternoons provide the best natural light and fewer crowds.
Be Weather Ready: London’s weather can be unpredictable. Bring umbrellas and embrace the rain for some truly unique shots.
Incorporate Outfits: Choose attire that complements each location. For example, formal wear works beautifully at St Paul’s and Westminster, while casual chic suits Shad Thames.
Timing is Everything: Certain spots, like Millennium Bridge, can get crowded. Plan your shoot for off-peak hours for a more relaxed experience.
London’s mix of history, modernity, and natural beauty offers endless possibilities for your pre-wedding photography. Whether you’re drawn to the iconic landmarks of Westminster and Tower Bridge or the quieter charm of Shad Thames, each location will add a unique touch to your love story.
